Events

Pageviews are automatic. Everything else is a named event you choose to send.

Named events

Call pulse with an event name and optional properties. Names may use letters, numbers, underscore, colon and hyphen only, up to 64 characters. Values that look like email addresses are rejected.

HTML attributes

You can also mark a button or link. Pulse reads data-pulse-event and data-pulse-prop-* when the element is used.

Conversions

pulse.conversion records a conversion event. For purchases, you can pass an order id so a later payment can recover the same visit hash.

Identify

pulse.identify stores a hash of an external user id, scoped to the site. It can link identify events across days. Do not send an email or another directly identifying value. Default visitor counts do not use this hash.

Automatic rules

In site settings you can add click, form and URL rules. Those need the full tracker. They create named events without extra JavaScript on each page.
